What is Acme Video ...you might ask?
It is an ACTUAL video store located within the city limits of Providence RI. For 15 years Acme has existed to provide a vast selection of film and cinema to people who like to leave the house, go to a store, and have interaction with people who are knowledgable about film and have a practical film archive available. We are ACTUALLY an endangered community asset, so show your support, give up your red envelopes and robot vending machines and come to the real PLACE.

The films are:
1. Zbig Rybczynski, acclaimed Polish filmmaker and HDTV pioneer, "Take Five" from 1973, and 2. "Oh! I Can't Stop!", from 1975. These are short films of very striking visual intensity.

3. Don Hertzfeldt, co-creator of The Animation Show with Mike Judge, with "Billy's Balloon", a hand drawn animation made without computers. See Billy try to defend himself from his antagonist.

4. Chris Stenner and Heidi Wittilinger, german animators, with a stop-motion and C.G.I. short called "Das Rad", or "The Rocks". Watch as time passes and the world around the rocks changes.....

5. Jiri Barta, Czech stop-motion animator, with a short called "A Ballad About Green Wood"
in which nature is REALLY alive.

6. Jiri Barta's acclaimed masterpiece, "The Pied Piper of Hamelin", a version of the story told in a wood-carved cubist animated piece of amazing stop-motion.

7. Lotte Reiniger, german animation pioneer, with "The Adventures of Prince Achmed", a version of the Arabian Nights told using cut-paper animation. A truly awesome and important film.

8. Andrew Lehman and Sean Branney, recent award winners, with their adaptation of H.P Lovecraft's "The Call Of Cthulu", a silent film in "Mythoscope", which combines vintage techniques with modern computer technology. The result is an awesome looking 1920's black and white silent film with a great sounding score. Also it may be the best film adaptaion of any Lovecraft story to date.
