DJ Dublin first began to spin back in the early 90’s as a way to listen to the old school funk and rare groove jazz that he and friends had found while on excursions to NYC. But, it wasn’t until he discovered downtempo electronica and dub that he decided to get serious about djing. Soon after he cofounded a weekly party (Dubset), where he spun everything from downtempo to house and drum & bass all with a dubbed out vibe. While getting the dance floor jumping, his love and passion for deep underground house took over and he has never looked back. Influenced by tracks from artists such as Masters at Work, Todd Terry, and Mateo and Matos,
host Soul Teknology, a weekly live show.
IndieArts Fest attendees can catch DJ Dublin with Nick de Paris on July 18 at the Red Bull Music Academy Tunnel in Burnside Park from 8:15 to 10:00 PM. Nick de Paris, also of the Afrosonic Collective, is from New York via (of course) Paris, where he performed before starting new nights such as Paris Grooves and Fiesta Elektronica here in Providence and appearing on WERS radio in Boston. A graphic designer by day, Nick DJs around Providence at night with residencies at Tazza and Local 121. A regular on Pressureradio.com, Nick spins genres of house music ranging from funky French and Jackin house to the deep and soulful sounds played at AfroSonic.
While you wait for July 18 to come around, you can visit the Myspaces of Nick de Paris, DJ Dublin, and the Afrosonic Collective. You can also find DJ Dublin on Facebook.
